The Far North Quilt Trail was initiated on the traditional territories of the Dena Peoples of the lower Tanana River - we gratefully acknowledge this in thanks to the original inhabitants that stewarded this land since time immemorial.
Cook Inlet Housing Authority
partnering with the Far North Quilt Trail Project
In May of 2021 visual artist and Creative Director of the Far North Quilt Trail Somer Hahm partnered with the Cook Inlet Housing Authority to create and install a mini barn quilt trail for the residents of the Centennial Villages in Anchorage, Alaska. A project that focused on relieving residents feelings of isolation during the pandemic, the artist engaged the residents with a collaborative, and community focused creative intervention that took the shape of a small quilt trail between the three gardens in the retirement village.
These paintings are available to the general public for viewing and enjoying!
